Paranthropus is a fossil genus of hominins in the family of the human monkeys. The Paranthropus species are considered to be the Australopithecina group and presumably represent an evolutionary side line to the genus Homo. Common features of these species are, in particular, their large cheek teeth. Paranthropus ist eine fossile Gattung der Hominini in der Familie der Menschenaffen. Die Paranthropus-Arten werden zur Gruppe der Australopithecina gerechnet und stellen vermutlich eine evolutionäre Seitenlinie zur Gattung Homo dar. Gemeinsame Merkmale dieser Arten sind insbesondere ihre großen Backenzähne.
