parochie

Parochie

A parochy is the office district of a priest, that is, a parish or parish. It is the lowest, ecclesiastical administration and pastoral district with its own priest of a church organized according to the Parochial principle. Parish churches can also be subdivided into suburbs. In the Protestant Church, several parishioners can work in a parochial church, and in the Catholic Church only one. "Parochial" is what belongs to the Parochus. The Parochus is the one who presents the sacraments on behalf of the bishop, or the one who presents the sacramental sacrifice, the Eucharist. An alternative for etymology is παροικία, "the living of a stranger in a place without civil rights". In this sense, the concept already appears in the first letter of Peter. There is talk of the fact that Christians live in this world as in a foreign country. From Greek, the concept has come to us through the Latin parochia, paroecia, as a designation for a church. In English the term is used as a parochial.
