Positivist

positivism

Positivismus

Positivism is a direction in philosophy, which demands that knowledge be restricted to the interpretation of "positive" findings, that is, those which produced an expected proof in the experiment under predefined conditions. Positism goes back to Auguste Comte in the naming and first institutionalization, and under this and his successors in the nineteenth century it was developed into a world-wide humanistic approach in the humanities, which excluded all transcendence from the considerations. There was considerable tensions between the epistemological position, which was primarily concerned with the discussion of science, and institutionalized positivism, which sought a substitute for religion, during the course of the nineteenth century. Jahrhunderts erhebliche Spannungen.
