Radula

The characteristic oral tool of the soft tissue is called the radula, rasp or friction tongue. In its basic training it is used to grind, grind and collect the food into the throat. Carnivore species can also use the radula to pack and hold beasts. The radula is present in all sorts of mussels, with the exception of the mussels which live as a filter, as well as some worms and snails which feed themselves suckingly. For this reason, it represents a substantial apomorphy of this group. At the same time, the manifold modifications of the radula are regarded as the main reason for the development of different sources of food and thus for the widespread distribution and the high number of species of the molluscs, especially the snails.
