Sine and cosine
Sinus and cosine functions are elementary mathematical functions. They form the most important trigonometric functions before tangent and kotangen, secans and kosekans. Sinus and cosine are required, among other things, in the geometry for triangle calculations in plane and spherical trigonometry and are important in analysis. Waves such as sound waves, water waves and electromagnetic waves can be described as composed of sinusoidal and cosine waves, so that the functions are also omnipresent in the field of physics as harmonic oscillations.
