Yeomanry

Yeomanry is the name of the British cavalry, whose men originally originally recruited from Yeomen. The nobility and the patronage of the family were the officers. The Yeomanry was set up as a militia-free freikorps in the coalition wars for fear of a French invasion. In the nineteenth century they were first used only in the country, where they proved to be a reliable force in internal unrest due to the class membership of their members. Towards the end of the 19th century, the Yeomanry was included as a military cavalry in the army reforms. The social prestige was compared with that of the German one-year volunteers. In the Second Burial War, the Yeomanry was first used outside the motherland. Today, the Yeomanry in the British territorial armed forces, among others. Several tank regiments and a tank reconnaissance regiment. However, as a result of numerous restructuring efforts, British territorial associations with Yeomanry tradition names as infantry, technical troops, etc. also function.
