The Zerography is a method to engrave in wax. The method consists in covering a polished copper plate with a wax layer and carrying out a drawing or transferring a photograph thereon. The lines are then cut out with a stick to the plate, fonts are stamped with ordinary types, and the plate is then reproduced in a galvanic bath. The Zerographie was mainly used in the USA for the production of maps and plans. Die Zerographie ist ein Verfahren, in Wachs zu gravieren. Das Verfahren besteht darin, dass man eine polierte Kupferplatte mit einer Wachsschicht überzieht und darauf eine Zeichnung ausführt oder eine Photographie überträgt. Die Linien werden dann mit einem Stichel bis auf die Platte ausgeschnitten, Schriften mit gewöhnlichen Typen eingeprägt und die Platte anschließend in einem galvanischem Bad reproduziert. Die Zerographie wurde vornehmlich in den USA zur Herstellung von Landkarten und Plänen benutzt.
