WHAT DOES ARCHETYPE MEAN IN ENGLISH?

Archetype

The concept of an archetype /ˈɑrkɪtaɪp/ is found in areas relating to behavior, modern psychological theory, and literary analysis. An archetype can be: ▪ a statement, pattern of behavior, or prototype which other statements, patterns of behavior, and objects copy or emulate; ▪ a Platonic philosophical idea referring to pure forms which embody the fundamental characteristics of a thing; ▪ a collectively-inherited unconscious idea, pattern of thought, image, etc., that is universally present in individual psyches, as in Jungian psychology; ▪ or a constantly recurring symbol or motif in literature, painting, or mythology. In the first sense, many more informal terms are frequently used instead, such as "standard example" or "basic example", and the longer form "archetypal example" is also found. In mathematics, an archetype is often called a "canonical example".

Definition of archetype in the English dictionary

The first definition of archetype in the dictionary is a perfect or typical specimen. Other definition of archetype is an original model or pattern; prototype. Archetype is also one of the inherited mental images postulated by Jung as the content of the collective unconscious.

9
Issa Rae
The black characters on TV are the sidekicks, or they're insignificant. You could put all the black sidekicks on one show, and it would be the most boring, one-dimensional show ever. Even look at the black women on 'Community' and 'Parks and Recreation' - they are the archetype of the large black women on television. Snide and sassy.
10

One of the pillars of 'Cyrano' is recreating a love story and, like any archetype, these great stories tend to be captivating , among other things, because they are made of those universal things that move us.
