WHAT DOES BEAVER MEAN IN ENGLISH?

Beaver

The beaver is a primarily nocturnal, large, semi-aquatic rodent. Castor includes two extant species, the North American beaver and Eurasian beaver . Beavers are known for building dams, canals, and lodges. They are the second-largest rodent in the world. Their colonies create one or more dams to provide still, deep water to protect against predators, and to float food and building material. The North American beaver population was once more than 60 million, but as of 1988 was 6–12 million. This population decline is the result of extensive hunting for fur, for glands used as medicine and perfume, and because the beavers' harvesting of trees and flooding of waterways may interfere with other land uses.

Definition of beaver in the English dictionary

The first definition of beaver in the dictionary is a large amphibious rodent, Castor fiber, of Europe, Asia, and North America: family Castoridae. It has soft brown fur, a broad flat hairless tail, and webbed hind feet, and constructs complex dams and houses in rivers. Other definition of beaver is the fur of this animal. Beaver is also a tall hat of beaver fur or a fabric resembling it, worn, esp by men, during the 19th century.
