WHAT DOES CAPILLARY MEAN IN ENGLISH?

capillary

Capillary

Capillaries /ˈkæpɨlɛriz/ are the smallest of a body's blood vessels and are parts of its microcirculation. Their endothelial linings are only one cell layer thick. These microvessels, measuring around 5 to 10 micrometre in diameter, connect arterioles and venules, and they help to enable the exchange of water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and many other nutrients and waste chemical substances between blood and the tissues surrounding them. During embryological development, new capillaries are formed through vasculogenesis, the process of blood vessel formation that occurs through a de novo production of endothelial cells followed by their forming into vascular tubes. The term angiogenesis denotes the formation of new capillaries from pre-existing blood vessels and already present endothelium which divides.

Definition of capillary in the English dictionary

The first definition of capillary in the dictionary is resembling a hair; slender. Other definition of capillary is having a fine bore. Capillary is also of or relating to any of the delicate thin-walled blood vessels that form an interconnecting network between the arterioles and the venules.
