WHAT DOES EYELASH MEAN IN ENGLISH?

eyelash

Eyelash

An eyelash or simply lash is one of the hairs that grow at the edge of the eyelid. Eyelashes protect the eye from debris and perform some of the same function as whiskers do on a cat or a mouse in the sense that they are sensitive to being touched, thus providing a warning that an object is near the eye. The Greek word for eyelash is "blepharo", which is often used as a root in biological terms like Blephara and Katoblephara.

Definition of eyelash in the English dictionary

The definition of eyelash in the dictionary is any one of the short curved hairs that grow from the edge of the eyelids. Other definition of eyelash is a row or fringe of these hairs.

William Morris Hunt
Beauty is that little something that fills the whole world, and is contained neither in a single straight nose, a long eyelash, nor a blue mountain. Some see it in a leg of mutton, others in a compound fracture; and to expect others to accept one's own definition of it is as absurd as to expect all humanity to use the same toilet-brush.
