I don't think people should be fed mesclun salad and chicken breast. My grandmother would serve grits and oxtail stew at a formal dinner, and if you didn't like it, well then you ate more beans or you went home and ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

WHAT DOES MESCLUN MEAN IN ENGLISH?

mesclun

Mesclun

Mesclun is a salad mix of assorted small, young salad leaves which originated in Provence, France. The traditional mix includes chervil, arugula, leafy lettuces and endive in equal proportions, but in modern iterations may include an undetermined mix of fresh and available lettuces, spinach, arugula, Swiss chard, mustard greens, endive, dandelion, frisée, mizuna, mâche, radicchio, sorrel, and/or other leaf vegetables. The name comes from Provençal —mescla, "to mix"—and literally means "mixture". In Hawaii, similar greens are grown in the region of Waimanalo on the windward side of Oahu. Because of their origin, a similar salad mix called "Nalo Greens" is popular in Hawaiian cuisine. Mesclun salad mixes are also grown in many other parts of the Hawaiian Islands, for example MA'O Organic Farms in the Waianae area of Oahu, Kailani Farms in Kilauea on the island of Hawaii and Kauai Fresh Farms in Kilauea, Kauai.
