WHAT DOES TUBA MEAN IN ENGLISH?

tuba

Tuba

The tuba is the largest and lowest-pitched brass instrument. Sound is produced by vibrating or "buzzing" the lips into a large cupped mouthpiece. It first appeared in the mid 19th-century, making it one of the newest instruments in the modern orchestra and concert band. The tuba largely replaced the ophicleide. Tuba is Latin for Pipe. The horn referred to would most likely resemble what is known as a baroque trumpet. A person who plays the tuba is known as a tubaist or tubist. In the United Kingdom a person who plays the tuba in an orchestra is known simply as a tuba player; in a brass band or military band they are known as a bass player.

Definition of tuba in the English dictionary

The first definition of tuba in the dictionary is a valved brass instrument of bass pitch, in which the bell points upwards and the mouthpiece projects at right angles. The tube is of conical bore and the mouthpiece cup-shaped. Other definition of tuba is any other bass brass instrument such as the euphonium, helicon, etc. Tuba is also a powerful reed stop on an organ.
