WHAT DOES VEIL MEAN IN ENGLISH?

Veil

A veil is an article of clothing or cloth hanging that is intended to cover some part of the head or face, or an object of some significance. It is especially associated with women and sacred objects. One view is that as a religious item, it is intended to show honor to an object or space. The actual sociocultural, psychological, and sociosexual functions of veils have not been studied extensively but most likely include the maintenance of social distance and the communication of social status and cultural identity. The Quran has no requirement that women cover their faces with a veil, or cover their bodies with the full-body burqua or chador.

Definition of veil in the English dictionary

The first definition of veil in the dictionary is a piece of more or less transparent material, usually attached to a hat or headdress, used to conceal or protect a woman's face and head. Other definition of veil is part of a nun's headdress falling round the face onto the shoulders. Veil is also something that covers, conceals, or separates; mask.
