Dipnoi

Dipnoids, also known as lung fish, are a subclass of sarcopterigian fish, that is, they have lobed fins. Some of its most characteristic features are those of having functional lungs. Although many consider them derived from the swim bladder they are actually an ontogenetic derivation of the ventral wall at the end of the pharynx, not the dorsal one, as with the swimming bladder. In the same way they have nasal openings to the outside, whose function is not to breathe air, since they do not communicate with the mouth, but the sense of smell. To capture the air of the atmosphere they use the mouth, and like the amphibians, they take it to the lungs by swallowing it. Larvae have temporary external gills.
