Op-art

Op art, also known as optical art, is a visual art style that makes use of optical illusions. In works of op art the observer participates actively moving or moving to be able to capture the optical effect completely, so it can be said that there is no emotional aspect in the works. The dominant elements of optical art are: straight or sinuous parallel lines, marked color contrasts, whether poly or bi-chromatic, changes in shape or size, combination or repetition of shapes or figures; Also uses simple geometric figures like rectangles, squares, triangles or circles. After World War II appears a new generation of abstract artists. Not only do they care to communicate a feeling to their works, but they demand from the viewer an active attitude. In his works the eye must be looking at a work that moves, seeking the beginning and the end. Op-art is a pictorial movement while kinetic art is rather sculptural. At this time the center of art is definitely New York.
