Segregation
The term segregate refers to separating, separating someone from something or something from another. In this way segregationism is that policy that separates, excludes and distances such groups as racial majorities, men, heterosexuals, religious majorities, people without disabilities, racial minorities, women, homosexuals, Religious minorities, people with disabilities, among others of the rest of the human population, based mainly on racial, sexual, religious, or ideological approaches. Segregationism manifests itself both in access to basic resources as well as in other facets such as the separation of residential neighborhoods in cities with the consequent conformation of urban islands or "ghettos". This is due, in many cases, to economic, social class, race and educational differences. Segregation can occur in various ways, depending on the culture and / or historical context in which it occurs.
