(जब बारात वर के यहाँ से चलने लगती है, तब दजुल्हे की
माँ फउसके उपर आँचल डालती है और उसे काजल
लगाती है । इस रीति को आँचल देना कहते हैं ।) ३.
आँचल से हवा करना (स्त्री०) । जैसे—(क) दीए को
आँचल दे दो;व्यर्थ जल रहा है । (ख) थोडा आंचल दे दो
तो आग सुलग जाय । आँचल पडना = आँचल छु जाना ।
जैसे,—देखो, बच्चे पर आँचल न पड जाय । (स्त्रीयाँ बच्चे पर
आँचल पडना बुरा समझती हैं और कहती हैं कि इससे बच्चों की देह फुल जाती है) । आँचल फाडना = बच्चे की जीने के
लीये टोटका करना । (जिस स्त्री के बच्चे नहीं या बाँझ होती
है, वह किसी बच्चेवाला स्त्री का आँचल घात पाकर कतर लेती
है, और उसे जलाकर खा जाता है । स्त्रीयों का विश्वास है कि
ऐसा करने से जिसका आँचल कतरा जाता है, उसके बच्चे तो
मर जाते हैं और जो आँचल कतरती हैं, उसके बच्चे जीने
लगते हैं ) । आँचल में बाँधना = (१) हर समय साथ रखना ।
प्रतिक्षण पास रखना । जैसे,—वह किताब क्या हम आँचल
में बाँधे फिरते हैं;जो इस वक्त माँग रहे हो । (२) कपडे के छोर में इस अभीप्राय से गाँठ देना कि उसे देखने से
वक्त पर कोई बात याद आ जाय । जैसे,—तुम बहुत
भुलते हो, आँचल में बाँध रखो । आँचल में बात बाँधना =
(१) किसी कही हुई बात को अच्छी तरह स्मरण रखना । कभीं
न भुलना । जैसे,—कीसी के झगडे में पडना बुरा है यह बात
आँचल में बाँध रखो । (२) दृढ निश्चय करना । पुरा विश्वास
रखना । जैसे,—इस बात को आँचल में बाँध रखो कि उन
लोगों में अवश्य खटपट होगी । आँचल में सात बातें बाँधना =
टोटका करना । जादु करना । आँचल लेना = (१) किसी स्त्री
का अपने यहाँ आई हुई दुसरी स्त्री का आँचल छुकर सत्कार
या अभिवादन करना । (२) किसी स्त्री का अपने से बडी स्त्री
का आँचल से पैर छुना । पाँव छुना । पाँव पडना । जैसे—
जीज, बुआ आई है;उठकर आँचल ले । आँचल सँभालना=
आँचल ठीक करना । शरीर को अच्छी तरह ढकना । उ०—
फुलवा बिनत डार डार गोविन के संग कुमार चंद्रबदन चमकत
वृषमानु की लली । हे हे चंचल कुमारि अपनो आँचल सँभार
आवत बृजराज आज बिनन को कली । (शब्द०) ।
