भिंडी संज्ञा स्त्री० [सं० भिण्डा] एक प्रकार के पौधे की फली जिसकी तरकारी बनती है । विशेष—यह फली चार अंगुल से लेकर बालिश्त भर तक लंबी होती है । इसके पौधे चैत से जेठ तक बोए जाते हैं; और जब ६-७ अंगुल के हो जाते हैं; तब दूसरे स्थान में रोपे जाते हैं । इसकी फसल को खाद और निराई की आवश्यकता होती है । इसकी रेशों से रस्से आदि बनाए जाते हैं; और कागज भी बनाया जा सकता है । वैद्यक में इसे उष्ण, ग्राही और रुचिकारक माना है । इसे कहीं कहीं रामतरोई भी कहते हैं ।
