लिये बहुत उपयोगी होती है; पर अरंभिक अवस्था में इसका
प्रभाव खानेवाले पशुओं पर बहुत बुरा और प्रायः विष के
समान होता है । इसमें से एक प्रकार के दाने भी निकलते हैं
जिन्हें गरीब लोग यों ही पीसकर अथवा बाजरे आदि के
आटे के साथ मिलाकर खाते हैं । इसकी कहीं खेती नहीं
होती, यह खेतों की मेड़ों अथवा जलाशयों के आसपास आपसे
आप होती है । इसका एक नाम कालामुच्छ भी है ।
