बृहत्संहिता के अनुसार एक प्रकार की
विद्या, जिसके अनुसार किसी निर्जल स्थान कै ऊपरी लक्षण
आदि देखकर, भूमि के नीचे पानी होने अथवा न होने का ज्ञान
होता है ।
विशेष—बृहत्संहिता में लिखा है कि जिस प्रकार मनुष्य के
शरीर में रक्तवाहिना शिराएँ होती है उसी प्रकार पृथ्वी में
जलवाहिनी शिराएँ होती हैं और इन शिराओं के किसी
स्थान पर होने अथवा न होने का ज्ञान वृक्षों आदि को
देखकर हो सकता है । जैसे, यदि किसी निर्जल स्थान में जामुन
का पेड़ हो तो समझना चाहिए कि उससे तीन हाथ की दूरी
पर उत्तर की ओर दो पुरसे नीचे पूर्ववाहिनी शिरा है; यदि
किसी निर्जन स्थान में गूलर का पेड़ हो तो उससे पश्चिम
तीन हाथ की दूरी पर डेढ़ दो पुरसे नीचे अच्छे जल की
शिरा होगी, इत्यादि ।
