लिया और वे धीरे से उसे उड़ा ले गए । ब्राह्मण फिर दरिद्र
हो गया और समु्द्र का पास गया । समुद्र ने सब हाल सुनकर
एक बहुत बड़ा सा संख दिया और कहा कि 'इससे भी गुरु जी के सामने रुपया माँगना, यह खूब बढ़ बढ़कर बातें करेगा,
पर देगा कुछ नहीं । जब गुरु जी इसे माँगें तो दे देना और
पहलेवाला छोटा संख माँग लेना' । ब्राह्मण ने ऐसा ही किया ।
जब ब्राह्मण ने गुरु जी के सामने उस संख से ५००) माँगा
तब उसने कहा—'५००) क्या माँगते हो, दस बीस पचास
हजार माँगो' । गुरु जी को यह सुनकर लालच हुआ और उन्होने
वह संख लेकर छोटा संख ब्राह्मण को लौटा दिया । गुरु जी
एक दिन उस बड़े संख से माँगने बैठे । पर वह उसी प्रकार
और माँगने के लिये कहता जाता, पर देता कुछ नहीं था ।
जब गुरु जी बहुत व्यग्र हुए, तब उस बड़े संख ने कहा—'गता
सा शांखिनी, विप्र ! या ते कामान् प्रपूरयेत् । अहं डपोरशं—
खाख्यो वदामि न ददामि ते' ।
२. बड़े डीलडौल का पर मूर्ख । देखने में सयाना पर बच्चां की
सी समझवाला ।
