होता है । कोई कोई ग्रेनाइट संगमरमर की भाँति सफेद भी
होता है । इसे काटने में बहुत अधिक खर्च पड़ता है और साधारण
इमारतों में इसका बहुत कम व्यवहार होता है । पुल की
कोठियाँ बनाने अथवा ऐसे स्थानों में जहाँ बहुत अधिक मजबूती की आवश्यकता हो, इसका उपयोग किया जाता है । गरमी
पाकर यह और पत्थरों की अपेक्षा जल्दी चटक जाता है ।
इसपर पालिश बहुत अच्छी होती है पर अधिक कड़े और
खुरदरे होने के कारण न तो इसकी मूर्तियाँ बन सकती हैं और
न इनपर खुदाई का महीन काम हो सकता है । इसमें अबरक
का भी बहुत कुछ अंश मिला रहता है । इसे संगखारा भी
कहते हैं ।
