एक साग जिसके पत्त दलदार,
नीचे डंठल के पास नुकीले और सिर पर चौड़े होते हैं ।
विशेष—इसके पत्ते दो अगुल लंबे और डंठल में दो आमने
सामने लगते हैं । इसके फूल पीले रंग के होते हैं । फूल झड़
जाने पर छोटे छोट कंगूरे निकलते हैं जिनमें काले गोल
चिपढे दाने होते हैं । ये दाने बहुत छोटे होते हैं और दवा के
काम में आते हैं । लोग ठंढाई में इन्हें प्रायः डालते हैं । इसका
पौधा एक बालिश्त से डेढ़ बालिश्त तक ऊँचा है और
ठेडी जगह में उगता है । यह बसंत ऋतु के पहले बोया जाता
है और गरमी में तैयार होता है । इसका पौधा बहुत जल्द
बढ़ता है । बरसात में यह आपसे आप खेतों में जमता है ।
लोग इसका साग खाते हैं । वैद्यक में यह ठंढा माना गया है ।
इसी की छोटी जाति को लोनी, अमलोनी या नोनिया
कहते हैं ।
