घास खाने और पागुर करनेवाला एक जंतु जो ऊँट की तरह का होता है ।
विशेष—आकार में यह जंतु ऊंट से कुछ छोटा होता है और
इसकी पीठ पर कूबड़ नहीं होता । यह दक्षिणी अमेरिका में
पाया जाता है । यह बहुत चपल, बलवान् और शीघ्रगामी होता है । इसे जब तक हरी घास मिलती है तब तक पानी की कोई
आवश्यकता नहीं होती । इसकी सब उँगलियाँ अलग अलग होती
हैं और प्रत्येक उँगली में एक छोटा मजबूत खुर होता है । इसके
रोएँ बहुत मुलायम होते हैं और इसकी खाल का चरसा बहुत
अच्छा होता है; इसीलिये कुत्तों की महायता से इसका शिकार
किया जाता है । जब कोई इसे छेड़ता है तब यह उसपर थूक
देता है, जिसका कुछ विपैला प्रभाव होता है । जंगली दशा में
इसे 'ग्वाना' और पालतू दशा में 'लामा' कहते हैं ।
