रंग में जिसमें कत्था, चूना, मेंहदी की पत्ती और चंदन का चूरा
पीसकर घोला रहता है और छैलछबीला, नागरमोथा, कपूर-
कचरी, नख, पाँजर, बिरमी, सुंगधबाला, सुगंध कोकल,
बालछड़, जरांकुश, बुढ़ना, सुगंधमैत्री, लौंग, इलायची, केशर
और कस्तूरी का चूर्ण मिला रहता है, डालकर पहर भर
उबालते हैं और उतारने पर उसे दिन रात उसी में पड़ा
रहने देते हैं । दूसरे दिन कपड़े को उसमें से निकालकर निचोड़
लेते हैं और बर्तन के रंग को छानकर उसमें हिना का इत्र
मिलाकर उसमें फिर उस कपड़े को डुबाकर सुखाते हैं । पर
आजकल प्रायः रँगरेज मलगिरि रंग रँगने में कपड़े को कत्थे
और चूने के रंग में रँगते हैं; फिर उसे कसीस के पानी में डुबा
देते हैं इसके बाद रँगे हुए कपड़े को आहार देकर निचोड़ते
और सुखाते हैं और अंत में उसपर हिना का इत्र मल देते हैं ।
