ताँबे की उपधातु । ताँबे का
नीला क्षार या लवण । तूतिया ।
विशेष—वैद्यक में लिखा है की जिस धातु को जो उपधातु होती है
उसमें उसी का सा गुण होता है पर बहुत हीन । ताँबे का यह
नीला लवण खानों में भी मिलता है पर अधिकतर कारखानों
में निकाला जाता है । ताँबे के चूर को यदि खुली हवा में
रखकर तपावें या गलावें और उसमें थोड़ा सा गंधक का
तेजाब डाल दें तो तेजाब का अम्ल गुण नष्ट हो जायगा और
उसके योग से तूतिया बन जायगा । नीलाथोथा रँगाई और
दवा के काम में आता है । वैद्यक में यह क्षारसंयुक्त, कटु,
कसैला, वमनकारक, लघु, लेखन-गुण-युक्त, भेदक, शीतवीर्य,
नेत्रों को हितकर तथा कफ, पित्त, विष, पयरी, कुष्ट और खाज
को दूर करनेवाला माना गया है । तूतिया शोधकर अल्प मात्रा
में दिया जाता है । इसे कई प्रकार से शोधते हैं । बिल्ली की
विष्ठा में तुतिए को गूँधकर दशामांश सोहागा मिलाकर धीमी
आँच में पकावे । इसके पीछे मधु और सेंधे नमक का पुट दे ।
दूसरी विधि यह है कि तूतिए में आधा गंधक मिलाकर उसे
चार दंड तक पकावे । शुद्ध होने से उसमें वमन आदि का दोष
कम हो जाता है ।
