एक प्रकार की लता जो प्राय:
सारे भारत के जंगलों में और पहाड़ों पर ३००० फुट की
ऊँचाई तक पाई जाती है ।
विशेष—इसके पत्ते गोल और नुकीले होते हैं और इसमें गोल
फल लगते हैं । यह तीन प्रकार की होती है—सफेद, काली
और लाल । सफेद निसोथ में सफेद रंग के, काली मे कालापन
लिए बैगनी रंग के और लाल के फल कुछ लाल रंग के होते
होते हैं । सफेद निसोथ के पत्ते और फल अपेक्षाकृत कुछ बड़े
होते है और वैद्यक में वही अधिक गुणाकारी भी मानी जाती है । भारत में बहुत प्राचीन काल से वैद्य लोग इसका व्यवहार
करते आए हैं और इसका जुलाब सबसे अच्छा समझते हैं ।
औषध के काम के लिये बाजार में इसकी जड़ तथा डंठलों के
कठे हुए टुकड़े मिलते हैं । वैद्यक में इसे गरम, चरपरी, रूखी,
रेचक और कफ, सूजन तथा उदर रोगों को दूर करनेवाली
माना है ।

सहा । सरसा । रोचनी । मालविका । श्यामा । मसूरी ।
