नाम वस्तुतन्मात्रा है । इस स्कंध के अनर्गत ४ महाभूत,
५ ज्ञानेंद्रिय, ५ तन्मात्राएँ, २ लिंग (स्त्री ओर पुरुष),
३ अवस्थाएँ (चेतना, जीवितेंन्द्रिय और आकार),
चेष्टा, वाणी, चित्तप्रसादन, स्थितिस्थापन, समता, समष्टि,
स्थायित्व, ज्ञेयत्व और परिवर्तनशीलता नामक २५ गुण
माने जाते हैं । रूपस्कंध से ही वेदनास्कंध की उत्पत्ति होती है । यह वेदनास्कांध पाँच ज्ञानेंद्रियों और मन के भेद से
छह प्रकार का होता है, जिनमें प्रत्येक के रुश्चि, अरुचि,
स्पृहशून्यता ये तीन तीन भेद होते हैं । संज्ञास्कंध को अनुमित-
तन्मात्रा, भी कहते हैं । इंद्रिय और अतःकरण के अनुसार
इसके छह भेद हैं । वेदना होने पर ही संज्ञा होती है । चौथा
संस्कारस्कंध है जिसके ५२ भेद हैं—स्पर्श, वेदना, संज्ञा,
चेतना, मनसिकार, स्मृति, जीवितोंद्रिय, एकाग्रता, वितर्क,
विकार, वीर्य, अधिमोक्ष, प्रीति, चंड, मध्यस्थता, निद्रा,
तंद्रा, मोह, प्रज्ञा, लोभ, अलोभ, उत्ताप, अनुताप, ही, अही,
दोष, अदोष, विचिकित्सा, श्रद्धा, दृष्टि, द्विविध प्रसिद्धि
(शारीर और मानस), लघुता, मृदुता, कर्मज्ञता, प्राज्ञता,
उद्योतना, साम्य, करुणा, मुदिता, ईर्षा, मात्सर्य, कार्कश्य,
औद्धत्य और मान । पाँचवाँ विज्ञान स्कंध है । हिंदू शास्त्रों
में कहे हुए चित्त, आत्मा और विज्ञान इसके अंतर्भूत हैं ।
इस स्कंध के चेतना के धर्माधर्म भेद से ४९ भेद किए गए
हैं । बोद्ध दर्शानों के अनुसार विज्ञानस्कंघ का क्षय होने से ही
निर्वाण होता है ।
