१. हिंदुओं के छह् दर्शनों में से एक
दर्शन जिसके कर्ता महर्षि कपिल हैं ।
विशेष—इस दर्शन में सृष्टि की उत्पत्ति का क्रम दिया गया है ।
इसमें प्रकृति को ही जगत का मल माना है और कहा गया है
कि सत्व, रज और तम इन तीनों के योग से सृष्टि का और
उसके सब पदार्थों आदि का विकास हुआ है । इसमें ईश्वर की
सत्ता नही मानी गई है; और आत्मा को ही पुरुष कहा गया है ।
इसके अनुसार आत्मा अकर्ता, साक्षी और प्रकृति से भिन्न है । आत्मा या पुरुष अनुभवात्मक कहा गया है, क्योंकि इसमें
प्रकृति भी नहीं है और विकृति भी नहीं है । इसमें सृष्टि के
चार मुख्य विधान माने गए हैं—प्रकृति, विकृति, विकृति-
प्रकृति और अनुभव । इसमें आकाश आदि पाँचों भूत और ग्यारह
इंद्रियाँ प्रकृति हैं । विकृति या विकार सोलह प्रकार के माने गए है । इसमें सृष्टि को प्रकृति का परिणाम कहा गया है; इसलिये
इसका मत परिणामवाद भी कहलात है । विशष दे० 'दर्शन' ।
