Western
Western is a very popular art genre, characterized by being set in the west of the United States of America, the so-called Old West, border area up to almost the nineteenth century. Exported from Buffalo Bill in Europe with its Buffalo Bill Wild West Show circus, the western genre was subsequently subject to almost all artistic expressions: cinema, literature, comics and cartoons, sculpture and painting, television and radio shows, music, theater and opera. Often it is proposed in a romantic vision, since the West, as a frontier, was also an ideal of freedom and hope. The western genre in Italy has had a lot of resonance, for example in the films with Spaghetti-western, in comics, among others, with Tex Willer and Zagor, but still before in opera with Puccini's Maid of the Year in 1910.
