Chingola is a city in northern Zambia. Population 147,448 people (2000). It is on a plateau with an altitude of 1,363 m. Located in the northern part of Copper Belt State, it is one of the six largest cities in the state of Copperbelt. Adjacent to the town is the Nanjanga copper mine, the second largest open-cut mine in the world, mining and smelting of copper is the main industry of the town. The Zambian Railway connects the southern Kito and Chingora.
