Blagoevgrad / Благоевград City in the southwestern part of Bulgaria. It is named after the Communist leader Dimitar = Blagoev. Former name Gornadjemaya. It is located in the basin along the Struma River at the northern end of the Pilin Mountains, about 100 kilometers south of the capital city of Sofia. In the early 16th century, a market town was created during the Ottoman Empire, and an Islamic temple was built. The old cityscape of the Old Town remains in the Barosha district, which was developed in the nineteenth century's revival period. ブラゴエフグラート【Blagoevgrad/Благоевград】 ブルガリア南西部の都市。名称は共産党指導者ディミタル=ブラゴエフにちなむ。旧称ゴルナジュマヤ。首都ソフィアの南約100キロメートル、ピリン山脈北端のストルマ川沿いの盆地に位置する。16世紀初頭、オスマン帝国時代に市場町がつくられ、イスラム寺院が建てられた。19世紀の民族復興期に整備されたバロシャ地区には旧市街の古い街並みが残っている。
