Actually it is not an island, but because the ice sheet rides on the rock bed below the sea surface, it is seen as an island on the sea level. The eastern side of this island is Philsner ice ice, the west side is Ronne ice ice. バークナー‐とう【バークナー島】 《Berkner Island》南極のウェッデル海にある島。実際には島ではなく、海面下の岩床に氷床が乗り上げるため、海面上の島として見られる。この島の東側をフィルヒナー棚氷、西側をロンネ棚氷という。
