Kythira Toru [Kythira island] "Kythira / Κθηρα" An island that floats off the coast of Lakonia Bay on the southern tip of the Peloponnese, southern Greece. It belongs to the Ionian islands. The center is Kythira. During the ancient Greek era, the goddess of beauty and love was known as the land of Aphrodite faith, later later became the subject of works of French painter Antoine Watteau and composer Claude Debussy under the name of Cititel. It is a key point of maritime traffic since ancient times, often as a base for pirates or attacks. Under the rule of the Republic of Venice and the Ottoman Empire, it became French territory, British territory, Greek territory since the mid-19th century. Kishira Island.
