Oskemen
Oskemen (Kazakh language: Өскемен) is the city of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The capital city of East Kazakhstan Province. The population is 300,000 people. In the past (during the Soviet Union period), it was called Usti Carmenogorsk (Усть - Каменогорск, Ust - Kamenogorsk), which is left as a Russian notation (see emblem). It was built as a fortress / trade area at the confluence of the River Eltis and the Ulva River in 1720. Developed as a center of mining and metallurgy in the Soviet Union era.
