Viroid
Viroids are pathogenic to infecting higher plants, consisting of short, single-stranded RNAs with high complementarity without a typical protein coat of virus. The number of bases is about 200 to 400, and it is a small annular chain consisting of RNA only. The term viroid was named after the 1971 T.O diner, a plant pathologist at the Agricultural Research Institute in Maryland.
