Orient policy
Eastern policy refers to the reconciliation policy of former Central European Communist countries pursued by Prime Minister Billy Brandt. As a result, the Hastein doctrine was virtually destroyed. Billy Brandt, a German Social Democratic Party prime minister, took office in 1969 as prime minister of the West, and he pursued progressive policies such as apology to World War II victims, Poland, and exchanges with East Germany. The conservative camps, such as the Christian Democratic Union, opposed that they could not recognize the exchange with the communist regime, but they did a number of important accomplishments, such as contributing to the disintegration of Germany as a country that provoked war and caused great injuries and harms to other countries . Furthermore, this Oriental policy can be regarded as an effort to overcome the Cold War because it is a policy implemented according to Prime Minister Billy Brandt 's policy that stiffening and denial of communication deepen division.
