Kaesung Express City
Kaesong Express City is a city in the southern part of North Korea's Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Kaesong is the capital of Korea and has prospered for 500 years. Kaesung was also called by various names such as Songkyeong, Songdo, Songak, and Songkyeong. Since it was south of 38 degrees north latitude, it belonged to the jurisdiction of Gyeonggi province of Korea immediately after liberation. However, during the Korean War, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was occupied, and from January 1955 until September 2003, it was promoted as a subordinate to the Kaesong government office. Kaesong Industrial District is located in Kaesong Express City. The population is 308,440 as of 2008. The current Kaesong Express City is the combined area of Gaesung City in 1945 and Yeongnam-myeon, Yeongbuk-myeon and Yeongbuk-myeon in Seongseong-gun, Yeongbuk-myeon and Seongdong in Jeungdong-gun, Jeondeung-ri and Jangdan-gun in Jeongeun-gun.
