개야도
Goyang Island is an island of 1.27 ㎢, which belongs to the goddess of Yodo-myeon, Gunsan City, Jeollabuk-do. The population is 948 as of the end of 2010. It is located north of Gunsan Port, about 12 km from the Gunsan Port Coastal Terminal. Originally, the eastern part of the island had a wide bay with tidelands, but it became a cultivated area by reclamation, with 10% of the island's total area and 20% of its land area, compared to other islands in the west. Two-thirds of the residues consumed by the residents can be covered on the island itself, and vegetables can self-sufficiency. There are many people who are anti - farmers, especially in winter. The villages are formed around the pier on the southeast coast, and the northern beaches of the island are famous for summer beaches. Major institutions include police boxes, public health centers, and elementary schools. 개야도는 전라북도 군산시 옥도면 개야도리에 속하는 면적 1.27 ㎢의 섬으로, 인구는 2010년 말 기준으로 948 명이다. 군산항 북쪽에 있으며, 군산항 연안여객터미널로부터 약 12 km 떨어져 있다. 본래 섬의 동쪽에 간석지로 이루어진 넓은 만이 있었으나 간척으로 농경지가 되었고, 섬 전체 면적의 10%가 논, 20%가 밭으로 서해의 다른 섬들에 비해 경지율이 높은 편이다. 주민들이 소비하는 주곡의 3분의 2를 섬 자체에서 충당할 수 있고, 채소도 자급자족이 가능하다. 주민은 반농반어하는 사람이 많고, 특히 겨울철에는 김 양식을 많이 한다 취락은 동남쪽 해안의 부두 주변에 형성되어 있고, 섬의 북쪽 해변은 여름철 해수욕장으로 유명하다. 주요기관으로는 파출소, 보건지소, 초등학교가 있다.
