Black hood
It is one of the Old World monkeys and one of the Rook monkeys, It is found in the Nile Hill of Surgat in southern India. Their distribution also includes Koda Canyon of Karnataka, Palanie Hill of Tamil Nadu, and several rolling hills in Kerala. This primate has black shiny hair on its body and golden brown hair on its head. They are similar in size, and have long tails like a gray lagur. Females have white spots on their thighs. They form a herd from 5 to 16. These monkeys are often seen to invade arable land. The food consists of fruit, buds and leaves. This species is at risk for extinction because the forest is disappearing, poaching for fur and meat, and meat is believed to contain an aphrodisiac ingredient.
