Giant cell tumors occur frequently in their 20s to 30s, and there is no difference between men and women. The site of occurrence is the tip of the long bone, and it occurs frequently in the lower part of the femur, the upper tibia, and the upper part of the fibula, centering on the knee. It also occurs in the pelvis and spine. The X-ray shows a circular or elliptical keel of localization and the boundary is relatively clear. Histologically, it consists of giant cells and spindle cells. The giant cells are large and the spindle-shaped cells are well-formed. The treatment is a so-called bone graft (搔 骨 骨 transplant) or a wide range of fractures, the former has a high recurrence rate.

골거대세포종 20대에서 30대에 자주 발생하고 남녀의 차이는 없다. 발생부위는 장관골의 골단부이고 그 가운데서도 슬관절을 중심으로 해서 대퇴골하단, 경골상단, 비골상단 등에 자주 발생한다. 그밖에 골반, 척추 등에도 생긴다. X-선상에서는 국한성의 원형 또는 타원형의 용골성 소견을 나타내고 경계는 비교적 명료하다. 조직학적으로는 거세포와 방추형세포로 이루어지고 양성의 것은 거세포가 크고 방추형세포의 형도 갖추어져 있는데 악성이 되면 거세포도 작고 핵수는 적어진다. 치료는 소파골이식(搔爬骨移植)이나 광범위골절제를 행하는데 전자는 재발율이 높다.
