Goryokaku
Goryokaku is a fortress in Hakodate City, Hokkaido, which was built at the end of the Edo period. It is also called a star-shaped castle that was built in Japan at the time. It was called Goryokaku of Tatsuoka Castle in Saku City, Nagano Prefecture, but generally refers to a fortress in Hakodate. The name at that time was called Kameda Yakusho Toru, or Ryuya Castle. It is a nationally designated special historical site in Japan and was designated as a Hokkaido heritage under the name of "Goryokaku and Hakodate War."
