Korean Language Proficiency Test
The Korean Language Proficiency Test is a test to evaluate students' understanding of Korean and their thinking ability for students and native speakers who speak Korean as their native language. The name of the English language is 'Test of Korean Language'. In contrast to the traditional Korean language test, which focuses only on basic language skills based on Korean language knowledge, Korean language culture, and language skills, it focuses on the ability to make comprehensive understanding, reasoning, and critical and creative thinking through the Korean language. The evaluation area is largely divided into the language base area, the functional area, and the thinking area. It is administered by the Korean Language and Culture Research Foundation, and is conducted only in odd-numbered months every year. In 2009, it acquired the 'National Qualification', and now it is being used as evidence of Korean language ability excellence in entering various corporations, human resources, universities, graduate schools, and special purpose high schools. From November 2011, it has been replaced by the language reasoning area of the entrance examination for dental and medical education. It is expected that the grades will be reflected in the legal aptitude test in the future.
