Fission is a phenomenon in which a nucleus of a larger atom is split into two or more different nuclei. In artificial fission, neutrons collide with atomic nuclei. As a result of fission, usually two or three neutrons are generated again, so a fission phenomenon can cause another fission. . Thus, an artificial fission reaction can be a nuclear chain reaction. Cascades of fission can cause massive fission at a time, since nuclear reactions are usually more energetic than chemical reactions, and a large amount of fission generates a lot of energy. An example of an atomic bomb that does not slow down the chain reaction is the atomic bomb, which uses a neutron absorber to reduce the rate of reaction and to continuously increase the temperature. The place to make energy using these things is called a nuclear power plant.
