Italy
Republika Italiana is a single-parliamentary republic consisting of Sicily and Sardinia, the two islands of southern Europe, the Italian Peninsula and the Mediterranean Sea. Bordered by France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia bordered by the North Alps. The surrounding seas are surrounded by the Adriatic Sea in the east, the Ionian Sea in the south, and the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ligurian Sea in the west. Within the territory of Italy there are the gastronomic states of San Marino and Vatican City, and in the territory of Switzerland there is Campione Naditalia, the territory of Italy. The land area is 301,338 km² and belongs to the temperate zone. The population is 60,200,000, the sixth most populous in Europe, and the 23rd on a global basis. Major cities include the capital, Rome, Milan, Naples, Genoa, Florence, Turin and Venezia.
