Chitin
Chitin or the C-arm is a polymeric polysaccharide that is linked in long chain form by N-acetylglucosamine. It is an important constituent of the hard skin of arthropods, the bark of molluscs, and the cell wall of fungi. Cells of plants have celluloses, while cell walls of fungi contain hard components of chitin that are contained in the shells of crabs, shrimp, and the like.
