Wood vinegar
Wood vinegar is a clear stream of lignocellulosic material made from wood. When burning charcoal, a lot of wood vinegar is produced as a by-product. Appearance is a chocolate-colored liquid ranging from dark brown to yellowish brown. Other components include aromatic compounds such as alcohols, carbonyl groups, phenols, and furans. Ingredients are uneven depending on raw materials and conditions of carbonization. Also called Mt. Methanol, otherwise called woodland, is derived from what was obtained by distilling past wood vinegar.
