Symptoms of poisoning are strong pulmonary irritant gas and low water solubility, which leads to pulmonary edema when inhaled. If it exceeds 5 ~ 10PPm, burning sensation, coughing, vomiting and chest pain in the donor or chest area within a few minutes, ultimately resulting in pulmonary edema. 25PPm 30-minute inhalation is life-threatening. Although the effects of long-term exposure are unclear, many chronic bronchitis and airway cancers are found.

포스겐중독 포스겐은 합성염료나 유기화합물 합성에 사용된다. 위생학상 특히 문제가 되는 것은 휘발성 염소화탄화수소가 불꽃이나 가열 금속면에 접촉했을 때 발생하는 것으로, 테프론등의 연소분해산물의 하나이다. 중독증상으로서는 폐자극 가스로서의 작용이 강하며, 수용성이 낮기 때문에 흡입시에 폐심부에 이르러 폐수종을 초래한다. 5~10PPm을 넘으면 수분내에 상기도나 흉부의 작열감, 기침이나 구토, 흉통을 초래하며, 궁극적으로는 폐수종을 초래한다. 25PPm 30분간 흡입으로 생명이 위험하다. 장기노출의 영향에 관해서는 명확하지 않지만 만성기관지염이나 기도암의 많이 발견되고 있다.
