Sardis
Sardis, now Sardis in Manisa, Turkey, was the capital of the ancient Lydian kingdom and an important city of the Persian Empire. And was governed by the governor of the Roman Empire. And it was the capital city of Lydia in the late Roman and Byzantine times. One of the seven churches in Asia, residents were famous for being weak. Its significance is firstly due to its military strength, traffic on the highway that reaches the beach from the inside, and the wide and fertile plains of Hermos. Sardis is located in a steep, high overhang that forms a fortress in the center of the Hermes valley at the foot of Mount Tomols. It is located 4 km south of Hermos. Today the location is identified by the village of Salut near Salihli.
